‘Tis the season to see Alaska, especially if you live here. Since the cruise ships aren’t coming, some big businesses aren’t opening at all for the season. Many of those that are open this summer are offering deep discounts to Alaskans.

The Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) has put together a site to review some of the best “resident specials”. 

The discounts are listed by region. Take your camera and enter the photo contest. Alaska Airlines is giving away tickets for the best photo!! CLICK HERE for details.  Here are some of our favorites:

SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA:

Go North RV Rentals.

Go North RV Rentals. 50 percent discount to Alaska and Washington residents (75 percent discount for Frontline workers).

Sunny Cove Kayaking in Seward

Sunny Cove Kayaking in Seward. 10-20 percent off Alaska residents. Trips starts at $71 (usually $79) for 3-hour paddle. Most popular is “Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise and Glacier Kayak Combo”…water taxi out to Aialik Bay, then paddle to Holgate Glacier. Lunch, beverages and snacks are included. Glacier + wildlife cruise on the way back.  Full day adventure = $425 per person, with 10 percent discount.

Shearwater Cove wilderness retreat

Shearwater Cove in Resurrection Bay. Save about 16 percent on yurt rentals. Normally it’s $575 per night, discounted to $480 ($240 per person, per night). There are four yurts that hug the waterfront, each outfitted with kitchen and bedding for 2-4 travelers. Water taxi to/from Seward is included, along with unlimited use of kayaks and associated gear. INTERIOR ALASKA
